Walden’s Child Nutrition Program

Feeding minds and bodies

Your child’s intellectual growth depends on having quality nutrition both at home and at school. At Walden, our Child Nutrition Specialist, Julie Powell, ensures that we offer healthy food choices for both breakfast and lunch. We also offer a free after school snack for students who stay for our CASA after school program.

Breakfast is served each day from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. Lunch is served at different times for elementary, middle school, and high school students (see bell schedules).

Breakfast, lunch, and an after school snack are half-price or free to families who qualify. We ask that all Walden families fill out the attached “Free/Reduced Application” to see if you qualify. Even if your child does not eat lunch regularly (or at all), qualifying more families for fee waivers helps Walden to offer important programs such as our before and after school clubs and activities.

FEE WAIVERS

If you think that you might qualify for fee waivers, will you please fill out the free/reduced application linked above to help us ensure Walden’s continued participation in valued programs such as Walden’s CASA After School Clubs & Activities, Title IA classroom aides, Title IIA professional development for teachers, and our Title IV International Baccalaureate Programme. These essential programs can only be funded when 40% of our families qualify for free/reduced-price meals (whether or not your child eats school meals). Additionally, when families qualify for free-reduced benefits, all school programs are free or half-price for each child.
